Center Point Ambulance Service was founded in the fall of 1956 by members of the Center Point Fire Department. Some of the original founders still reside in the community today.
In the early years, the ambulance was housed at the “Skelly Station,” now known as Rhinehart’s, because there was not enough space at the fire station.
During the mid-1990s, the ambulance service and the fire department became separate organizations. In 2008, the Ambulance Service moved to its current location at 521 Franklin Street, expanding its fleet to three ambulances.
In 2014, the State of Iowa expanded Center Point’s service area to include more of northern Linn County—adding the towns of Central City and Coggon. A second station was established in Central City, which can house up to two ambulances.
Today, members of Center Point Ambulance Service come from across the region to serve the community—some living right in town and others traveling from as far as North Liberty. Every member shares the same commitment: providing professional, compassionate care to those in need.

As an Iowa 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation owned and operated by its members, Center Point Ambulance Service stands apart from many other public safety organizations. Our operations are funded entirely through private donations, community fundraisers, and service fees — we do not receive any tax revenue.
Our dedicated members participate in monthly training sessions to learn new skills and enhance their techniques, all with one goal in mind: to provide exceptional care to you and our community.
